Elders

Brian McMullen

Brian and Tracy have 4 children and have attended PBC for 12 years. Tracy was saved at the age of 8 after a friend shared Jesus with her. During Brian’s sophomore year in college, God used Inter-Varsity Fellowship to bring him to Christ. Brian and Tracy met a few months later, dated through college, then attended a premarital class with a strong Christian couple. Later, that same couple took their daughter and son-in-law through the same class before they were married. Brian and Tracy are very active in their home group as well as an adult Sunday School Class. They have served for years with our Dwell Student Ministry. Just recently, they both felt led to start serving with Adventure Kids 1s and 2s. Brian currently serves as the Food Ministry Director at Tree of Life. The McMullen family has been a model of service to the Lord in their home, in the church, and in the community. They sense God’s calling to serve in the elder ministry. We are blessed to present Brian as an elder candidate to the PBC congregation.

Jim Willits

Jim and his wife Kathy have two children, Lisa and Jim and have been married for 46 years.  Jim and Kathy received Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior on December 8, 1979 and were baptized the same day in Lake Isabel.  They began attending Kenwood Baptist Church in Cincinnati and would grow in their faith.  For several years, the career became an idol for Jim but God faithfully drew Jim back to his first love in Jesus and Jim felt his soul had been restored.  Jim and Kathy began attending PBC in 2013.  Jim sought the Lord as to how he could “finish strong!”  Jim/Kathy are finishing strong through daily Bible study, prayer and devotional time together.  They are involved in a small group, attend a Sunday morning class and serve in Tree of Life Ministries.  Jim also leads a men’s Bible study each Friday.

Pat Vogelsang

Pat and Joan have 4 children and have been attending PBC for 4 years. Pat accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in 1995 and has grown in his relationship with Jesus Christ through several different churches and  denominations. Pat has helped with Dwell, chair setup, Tree of Life workday projects, Sunday coffee ministry and family small group. Pat also co-leads a men’s Bible Study on Wed mornings through FCA. Pat and his son Patrick joined the 2017 Bolivia mission team and were blessed all God had to offer them in Bolivia. The Lord opened my eyes to seek Him through Matthew 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.”. I learned that I was not able to do what God wanted me to, I need to get in line behind Jesus and let Him direct my ways.

Marcus Perry

Marcus and Kerry have 5 sons. They’ve been attending PBC for 6 years. Marcus accepted Christ at a weekend youth retreat in the 10th grade. He wandered from the Lord for a time, but God used family challenges, a PBC father/son retreat and a mission trip to Haiti to rekindle his love for Jesus. Kerry’s relationship with Jesus became personal as she started reading God’s Word. On August 18, 2013, she encountered Jesus and was born again. Marcus has been a small group leader for high school boys and led a Bible Study for adults. He has served as a member of the World Missions Team, has led four trips to Haiti and will also be leading a team to Bolivia this year. Kerry models PBC’s vision both at home, by home schooling her kids in a Christ-centered curriculum, and working with high school girls for the past 3 years. The Perry family has been a model of God’s love in their home, church, and community. They sense God’s calling to serve in the elder ministry. We are blessed to present Marcus as an elder candidate to the PBC congregation.

Jason Fleming

Jason and Elizabeth have four children and have been attending PBC for many years. Jason accepted Christ in October 2000 and has grown in his walk at many different churches as they have moved around the country. Currently, Jason helps teach a Sunday school class, leads a youth small group, and participates in a family small group with 4 other families. Jason is passionate about building relationships and serving the church. Jason’s favorite verses are Ephesians 2:8-9, “ For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.” In Jason’s own words: “…I desire to share with others how Christ is the way to live in grace, separated from this world in Christ. To Him I owe it all…” In Elizabeth’s words: “May we be but clay in the hands of the Master Potter. All glory and honor to you, Almighty God.”

Alan Garman

Alan and Stacey have been married since 1996, have one daughter, and have been attending PBC since 2005. Alan accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior during his sophomore year at college.  Over the years, Alan and Stacey have served together as children’s Sunday School teachers, tutors at Tree of Life Ministries, and have been part of several small groups.  Alan has helped with Tree of Life workday projects and currently serves as an usher.  Stacey is a member of the World Missions Team.  They and their daughter were blessed to be part of the missions team to Zambia in 2019.  One of Alan’s guiding passages is Phil 2:3-11, which describes the humility and concern we should express towards others as a reflection of Christ’s love for us:  Though he was in the form of God, he emptied himself, took on human form, humbled himself in obedience to the point of death on a cross, then was exalted so that “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”

George Fletcher

My spiritual journey started when I was 3 when I prayed with my Mom to accept Jesus as my savior. Then as a freshmen in high school at Faith Academy (mission boarding school in Manila, Philippines) I understood the gravity of sin and recommitted my life to Christ. Since then it’s been life-long growing with many ups and downs. I love God’s word and believe the Holy Spirit speaks through it at all times. Some days the message is one of encouragement and other days it's one of exhortation and rebuke. I love that our Heavenly Father is so invested and compassionate toward us that he speaks to us in that way. I too am broken and desperately need his constant involvement in my life. I look forward to serving this body as a servant anyway I can.

Joel Huchthausen

Joel and Christine have two children, Rachel and Claire, and have been attending PBC since they moved to the area in 2015. Joel accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at youth camp in the 5th grade. He has grown in his relationship with Christ over the years faithfully serving in different churches and participating in many small groups and Bible studies in the various places in which they have lived. At PBC he currently serves as a part of the worship team. He also serves on the Workforce Connections ministry team at Tree of Life. Christine has been homeschooling their girls, focusing on a Christian world view, and has also been serving in the Children’s Ministry. Through all of the joys and challenges, the Lord has continually shown his faithfulness asking Joel, and his family to “seek first the kingdom of God” (Matt 6:33). And through it all they have been able to, as it says in Psalm 59:16-17 “sing of praises to [God]..who shows me steadfast love”.

Cory Welch

My wife and I both grew up in Tyler, TX and attended Dallas Baptist University. Christ became my Lord and Savior at a Vacation Bible School in Chapel Hill, TX when I was 8 years old and He began to call me into ministry when I was 14. I earned a bachelors in Business Management from DBU and went on to receive my Masters of Divinity from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. I served at Crossroads Christian Church in Grand Prairie, TX from October 2003-October 2006 before I was called to PBC as the youth pastor in that same month. I officially transitioned into my current role in February 2012. My passion for ministry is to lead people to know Jesus as both Savior and Lord and to discover the purpose for which God created them. Natalie and I have been married since February 2008 and have 3 children.
